What Do Road Trips and Self Employment Have In Common

Self employed people ususally don’t have a given amount each and every Friday.  Income can vary dramaticly depending on what type of business you are in.  When things are good they are good, when things are bad they are very bad.  If you are employed in a conventional job making $14.00 an hour with benefits, 40 hours every week, maybe some overtime here and there, no layoffs that’s good, safe, secure and dependable.  But there are only so many hours in a day and will make x amount of dollars.  You could search for and find a better paying job and pass the interview process, two or three times and then the physical and apptitude test they may demand you submit yourself to.  Then after you survive the probationary period with all the conditions they inpose, along with any humiliation from being the low man on the totem pole from absolute strangers that you must learn to get along with.  You can go to the bathroom if someone will come and stand in your place, you get to take a break at  the same time every day no matter what.  You can spend the whole half hour interrupted doing whatever you want just make sure you get back on time!  Make sure you verify all this by checking with our security and punching the time card, because we’re checking those pennies.

If you are in a seasonal industry you can collect unemployment during the slow times and still enjoy the benefits of a conventional job.

So many variables in a road trip make them fun and always interesting. 

It just takes forever to get there sometimes, no matter how hard you drive or what you do it just takes forever.

Other times that hard driving does get you there a little faster and the trip is more enjoyable.  You almost wish it wouldn’t end.  But it will be whatever you make it that’s for sure.
